hy im patricia my sisters horse monarch is nervous on turniers,do you know about relaxingexercises, my sister and her husband are interested for, they want to know what they must do how it works
Hi Patricia lateral flexion exercises are really good and usually relaxes a horse. Getting them to drop there head and massage their neck and say easy. It will teach a horse over time that everytime you touch his or hers neck and say easy when he or she is nervous,it means it must be ok. Horses are looking to who is the leader always. If you have a young horse stop doing the turniers and find something else to do, that the horse likes, then go back to the turniers again. If not they will sour and find every trick to get out of doing the job it doesn't like....If your doing it too much maybe the horse is burned out on it.. too much of the same thing can cause sourdness. Goodluck.

Good Morning Charlotte! Sorry it has taken me so long to write I since have moved to Hawaii. We have no horse her with us. We left Charlie in Arizona. Once we get settled here we will look for a riding stable and take some lessons and like you my daughter and I might be able to get a job at one too. It is strange that we don't have to wake up to feed and muck stalls I miss it! Hope you have had more good riding days with Charlotte. Enjoy!! What do you do in the winter? Do you ride in an indoor arena?

hy im patricia the horse that i ride is charlotte, she is 11 years old 159 high i had ridinglesson today i rode a volte on the left hand and a volte on the right hand she has done it well i ride 4 years only, she is crazy for apples i bring her always 2 apples when she has done her work

Hello Patricia, I'm Monique Glad you on TW, Welcome. Happy you rode today. We are in Arizona and don't ride very much in our heat. Lately we have been bringing our horses over to our neighors' pasture. They have lots of wonderful grass so we bring our  2 horses Belle and Charlie to graze at night when it is slighlty cooler. We ride them although it is so close. I rode Belle and she took me on a ride almost crow hopped across the whole yard. It was exciting.  Our horses are spoiled rotten. They love apples, watermelon, and carrots!
