Last weekend, my mother-in-law, the girls and I all took a trip to the neighbor's house where my horse is currently staying.  It was soooo good to see him.  My mother-in-law went out into the pasture to catch Jim while I went and talked to the owner of the property.  We met up at the garage where all Jim's tack is being stored.  Jim was acting up a bit (neighing like crazy, pacing, pawing the ground) because he wanted to go back to his cow friends.  Come to find out when I talked to the owner of the property, Jim has become really attatched to the first calf that was born this season.  We got him saddled up and my mother-in-law took him out to work him a bit to get him to calm down.  About a mile and a half up the road, they got into a little bucking war.  Of course, my mother-in-law won that one.

While they were out, I let the girls out of the truck and they were wandering around the property.  And wouldn't you know it, by the time they were done, they were covered in cow poop!  haha  With Jim acting up a bit, I was a little hesitant on me riding let alone letting the girls ride him.  So, I got on him and we gave each girl a ride on him while my mother-in-law led him around.  It's amazing how smart he is because as soon as the girls got on him, he calmed right down.  The neighing stopped, the pawing stopped, and he was quiet as can be.  I did not ride him much but I did let the girls ride him by themselves for a little bit after I had seen him calm down considerably.  This was the first time I got to ride him since my surgery.

While putting his tack away, the girls were in the back of the truck.  Jim hung his head into the bed so the girls could reach him.  Kahlan was brushing his nose with the curry comb (and I was trying to take it from her) but he did not care.  He stood there and let her do it.  I'm starting to wonder if he misses them.  I know they miss him like crazy.  Jenna stands outside and yells for Jim when we are home and she is expecting him to show up.  I took him back to the pasture and he waited patiently for me to take his halter off before making a bee-line to the back fence and calling to his cow friends again.  I miss him being here at my house so much.
