Max and I have been doing great lately! I better knock on wood though, it seems every time I say that on TW we go downhill again.

Anyway, Monday afternoon I was giving Maxie a good workout (I hadn't in a while and felt bad), but he was being silly because I'd ask him to trot, and he'd canter, and I'd ask him to canter, and he'd trot! Eventually I got him to do what I wanted and give him a few peppermint treats for being good in the end. :)

So Max and I have finally started cantering a little more!

Or rather... We're loping. But I want him to have more of an English canter... Can anyone help us out?

Yay! I am home from horsecamp! I'm am not saying "yay" though because I am happy to be home... But because I now get to tell you all how great camp was!

Max was such an amazingly good boy... He didn't buck or anything! He spooked a few times but I didn't come off :) We bonded a lot... And in the end, we were all getting "awards" for whatever we most deserved them for, and mine was "Greatest Bond Improvment with Horse" ^^ And also, we got a SECOND PLACE in our showmanship class! I was soo excited.

And guess what! Max and I CANTERED!!! Not for very long, but still.

Yep, Max and I were flying. xD Seriously. Y'all know that all hooves leave the ground for a second when cantering (and galloping) right? So we were flying. :)

And Max got his new green saddle pad... He looks really good in green. :)

So, some of you may know that I have really been wanting to get a job at this new, nearby Equestrian center. It's called "Chasing the Dream Equestrian Center", and it is like, super fancy. But my Dad and I called another stable first.

It's called Pheonix Farms. I worked there yesterday and this morning to talk about a real job there.

But really, I just feel more at home at a place like my friends house, where I'm currently keeping Max. I was going to keep Max at Pheonix Farms for reduced board, but the lowest I would be able to get is still $120/month. I know that is cheap but with my salary (which is currently just allowance) I can't afford that much.

And like I said, I feel way more at home at my friends house. I want to try and talk to my Aunt again about keeping Max at her house... :)

 So I went to see Max tonight, of course. I was a little worried because it was just a little chilly today, and he tends to act up when it's cold. But I was excited too, because I knew that if Max was good today I would get to try his new tack on him

Anyway. I got all his tack on him and everything was fine. The girth was a little short but it fit still. The bit was a little high but it can be lowered. So I was riding around the big pasture with him, just at a walk to build my confidence in him.

Then, I decided he was okay to trot. I kicked him a little and clicked and, for about one pace, he did trot. Then, he decided to take off. But I didn't freak out, I just pulled back as far as I could on the reins and didn't stop until Max went back to a walk. :)

I'm hoping with all my heart that now, Max realizes that I won't stop pulling until he slows down to the speed I want. he's tested me more than once now so I hope he finnally understands that I am in charge! Anyway, the rest of the time he was a very good boy. He probably liked the lighter English saddle! And probably loved his post-ride brushing and fly pray :)

So, I finnally got a new saddle. ^^ Well, it isn't really new. But I just got it soo... Yeah. :D I am trading w/ my cousin for my Western saddle, and we're trading bridles too (except both are a little messed up in their own ways ^^). The English bridle has a broken strap thingy, so the bit doesn't stay on well (I needa get it fixed), and my cousin said I could keep the bit and reins from my bridle. So basically she is just getting a headstall. xD The saddle needs a new rubber band thing on one of the stirrups too... Anyone know where to get those? I only need one... ha.

I will try to have pics up son of ze new saddle :D

Just for the record, this blog is not about Max. :)

But... I am writing tto tell you all that in 2 weeks, I have my VERY FIRST SHOW!!!!! :D:D:D

Now, it is ot on Max obviously. And really, it is only going to be a walk/trot class. But still! And I get to use my favourite throughbred ever, Jimmy. He is the BEST!

Last night, I finally got to start real jumps... I mean, if you consider like 8 inches a jump. xD But still, the trot poles WERE stacked so I coonsider it a jump. :)

Grr! Max and I are like a seesaw lately, one minute he is good and one bad, or like the seesaw, one second it's up and another it's down.

After Friday, you would never believe that Max GOT ME OFF HIM AGAIN.

Yep. This time he started galloping, something I have never done before. I thought to myself, "You are NOT getting me off again, Max!" So I grabbed the horn and held on for maybe 6 seconds while Max bucked and galloped and generally tried to throw me off.

After that scary 6 seconds, I had to letgo because he was headed towards the water and I didn't want to fall in that. :(

If anyone has any tips on letting Max know who is boss they'd be greatly appreciated...
